Biography

Maija works as a freelance designer and illustrator. She graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki and has worked as a freelance textile designer for Marimekko since 2003. Her HO-HOI! fabric topped the textile design category at the Elle International Design Awards in 2006 and in 2010 she received the fashion influencer award at the Elle Style Awards. Inspired by folklore, Maija’s illustrations are made by hand and her favorite tools are fine felt tip pens, pencils, scissors and colored paper.
